WENDY KNIGHT
Registered Social Worker, MSW
“So often, when we feel lost, adrift in our lives, our first instinct is to look out into the distance to find the nearest shore. But that shore, that solid ground, is within us. The anchor we are searching for is connection, and it is internal." - Brene Brown
ABOUT WENDY
A lot of people come to therapy feeling like they’ve been holding things together on their own for a long time.
Sometimes this shows up as being capable and dependable on the outside, while internally feeling tired, overwhelmed, or unsure of how much longer you can keep doing it this way.
Therapy can be a place where you don’t have to carry it all alone.
I offer a steady, attuned space where you can begin to slow things down and share what has been difficult, at a pace that feels manageable for you. My intention is not to rush the process, but to help you feel enough safety and steadiness that you are able to stay with your experience, rather than move away from it or become overwhelmed by it.
Together, we begin to make sense of what you are carrying and how it has been shaped by your experiences over time. This often includes noticing patterns in how you respond to stress, relationships, and emotional intensity, and understanding what those patterns may have been trying to do for you.
I pay close attention not only to what is spoken, but also to what feels just beneath the surface. Many people describe feeling genuinely understood in a way that is grounding and clarifying, rather than overwhelming or analytical.
My work is informed by the understanding that our experiences are shaped by many layers, including relationships, identity, and the broader systems we live within. I hold this context in mind as part of how I listen and respond, because it often helps bring more compassion and accuracy to the work.
This is a space where you do not need to hold everything together. My role is to stay steady with you so there is room for what is present, without pressure to rush, perform, or figure it all out.
If you are considering therapy, we can begin wherever you are. You may be coming with something urgent, or it may be something you have been carrying for a long time.
If this feels like a fit, you are welcome to book a consultation and we can begin from there.

AREAS OF FOCUS
Alongside creating a steady, safe space to work through whatever you or your family may be facing, I bring particular expertise in the following areas:
Children, Youth, and School Success
I support young people (6+) as they navigate the social, emotional, and behavioral challenges of the school years. I have a special interest in helping students facing school anxiety or avoidance rebuild confidence and a sense of competence.
Couples Therapy
Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I work with couples to understand the attachment patterns beneath conflict. Together, we slow down reactive cycles, make sense of the deeper emotions driving disconnection, and create new moments of safety and responsiveness. The goal is not simply to resolve arguments, but to rebuild trust, strengthen emotional security, and deepen closeness.
Caregiver Support and Relational Repair
Using attachment-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), I help parents shift from frustration toward clear, grounded leadership. I also work with families and couples to restore trust, strengthen connection, and rebuild safety in relationships.
Crisis, Risk, and Trauma Recovery
I provide a steady, regulated presence for high-acuity mental health needs, including suicide intervention and DBT-informed care. I work with individuals who experience high emotional sensitivity, helping them move from survival mode toward stability and agency.
Substance Use and Addiction
My approach looks beyond symptom management to explore the role of trauma and environmental stress. Together, we focus on building insight, resilience, and sustainable recovery.
