WENDY KNIGHT
Registered Social Worker, MSW
“So often, when we feel lost, adrift in our lives, our first instinct is to look out into the distance to find the nearest shore. But that shore, that solid ground, is within us. The anchor we are searching for is connection, and it is internal." - Brene Brown
ABOUT WENDY
A lot of people I work with are used to holding things together on their own.
Therapy can be a place where you don’t have to do that. I offer a steady, attuned space where you can begin to share what’s been hard—at a pace that feels manageable. With over twenty years of experience, I focus on helping you feel supported enough to stay with your experience, rather than having to push it away or get overwhelmed by it.
We’ll work together to understand what you’re carrying and make sense of it in a way that actually feels relieving. I pay attention not just to what’s said, but to what sits underneath it, so you feel understood in a real and grounded way.
I work with an understanding that your experiences are shaped by many layers—identity, relationships, and the systems around you. That matters here, and it’s something I stay mindful of in how I listen and respond.
This is a space where you don’t have to keep it all together. My role is to stay steady with you so we can make room for what’s actually there, without rushing or overwhelming the process.
Taking the first step can feel like a lot. If you’re dealing with something immediate or something that’s been sitting with you for years, we can begin there.

AREAS OF FOCUS
Alongside creating a steady, safe space to work through whatever you or your family may be facing, I bring particular expertise in the following areas:
Children, Youth, and School Success
I support young people (6+) as they navigate the social, emotional, and behavioral challenges of the school years. I have a special interest in helping students facing school anxiety or avoidance rebuild confidence and a sense of competence.
Couples Therapy
Drawing on Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), I work with couples to understand the attachment patterns beneath conflict. Together, we slow down reactive cycles, make sense of the deeper emotions driving disconnection, and create new moments of safety and responsiveness. The goal is not simply to resolve arguments, but to rebuild trust, strengthen emotional security, and deepen closeness.
Caregiver Support and Relational Repair
Using attachment-based approaches, including Emotionally Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), I help parents shift from frustration toward clear, grounded leadership. I also work with families and couples to restore trust, strengthen connection, and rebuild safety in relationships.
Crisis, Risk, and Trauma Recovery
I provide a steady, regulated presence for high-acuity mental health needs, including suicide intervention and DBT-informed care. I work with individuals who experience high emotional sensitivity, helping them move from survival mode toward stability and agency.
Substance Use and Addiction
My approach looks beyond symptom management to explore the role of trauma and environmental stress. Together, we focus on building insight, resilience, and sustainable recovery.
